/// Resident Imogen Luke said 'I am hoping whoever put this up simply didn't realise what it can symbolise. ///

/// 'Seeing it flying boldly in our village last night truly made my heart sink and I'm hoping it has now been taken down. ///

/// 'No place or need for it in St Ewe really. I have been quite upset all day just wondering who would do such a thing and why. I believe it's probably a joke but it's just vile.' ///

Oh dear poor little snowflake, I do hope see is feeling much better now.

In my experience, locals in Cornwall are world class on racism and snide insults to incomers.
No, how could it be?

That last bit should have read that their expert opinion should be listened to.
well it is inextricably linked to slavery.....kind of like flying a swastika
Yes, Douglas. They snidely refer to tourists as 'emmets' conveniently forgetting that tourism is the life-blood of their economy.
in Somerset they are called "grocks" or "grockles" I think every tourist area has its word....
flown by a muslim most likely
they get everywhere with their evil creeping islamification programme

can we build a wall - sudduv Offa's Dyke but hi-tech - to keep them out?
it will excude the Cornish but you know some sacrifices made by others may be necessary
emmet is a grass flea - my brother was reduced to exclaiming
'we pay your wages you kn ow!'
Definitely racist. Those living in that part of the UK are not the brightest, but inbreeding is no excuse.

I hope the police track down those responsible and take appropriate action.
Well at least he has the Cornish flag flying above the Confed One! some people just look for offence.
Do not believe Cornishmen and women were outraged. It's an invented story. Certainly one person complained. Probably had nothing else to do.
And Douglas. ***.

The only inbreeding that should be regretted is that, in moments of weakness, we may have endured carnal relations with species east of The Tamar.
AOG - it's easy to scoff, and not it is not racist in the accepted sense of the term to fly a flag.

However, someone may have misguidedly thought that the flag has a 'romantic' image of the south, such as that put out in songs by bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I don't know how long ago this flag became so racist to fly, because it is only recently that I have seen any mention of it being so.
I remember going to Sunday Markets and Steam Rallies etc and seen it flying from certain stalls.
If it is deemed so offensive why wasn't it deemed so from the end of the American Civil War, or are we getting more and more sensitive in the present day?
One reader asked why isn't the Japanese flag banned seeing that they killed millions during the 1930s and 1940s? Not to mention their record in slavery.
Stan-Marsh. Where were you in-bred?
AOG - //I don't know how long ago this flag became so racist to fly, because it is only recently that I have seen any mention of it being so. //

I can only reiterate my previous point - flying a flag is not and cannot be racist in the accepted sense of the word.

As to increasing sensitivities, times and cultures evolve, and what was acceptable years ago, is not seen as such now.

The vagaries of cultural change explain why one thing is offensive, another is not - it simply depends on a large number of opinions being sufficient to move towards an attitude change.
