member of AB. I have learned a set of new words, that people on here are generally kind, that in times of trouble one can rely on AB people to be
sympathetic.

I've learned that even the people I violently disagree with on here have elements of opinions I can cleave to, and some of the people I really like have elements I find really difficult to marry to how nice I think they seem. I realise I sometimes go off half cocked, voice my opinions too strongly or in a manner too black and white, and sometimes I'm complacent and...

All of the above.
Loads of stuff. A lot of it practical, when I've asked for help with something specific.
I have also learned which member to interact with and which to avoid. :-)
I learned that Estoppel is a collective name given to a group of legal doctrines in common law legal systems whereby a person is prevented from making assertions that are contradictory to his or her prior position on certain matters before the court—the person is said to be "estopped"
That folk on here are real. That is to say that some believe themselves to ALWAYS be right - even when blatantly not. Some just love to have the last word - ALWAYS. Some are very easily offended. Some are very easily offended on behalf of others. And some must spend entire days trawling through their rag of choice for any slight on whichever political party they most dislike. As i said, real people.

totally agree, the GMEB thread is always cheery and welcome, the tech stuff mostly over my head but can be very useful. I just bought, which will be delivered today a
powered brush for getting the bathroom shower base clean, and a hundred new words not least rusticate...
I have learnt who my true friends are
Who are completely false and nasty
Who are complete snobs
And who are nice to your face and slate you behind your back
Excuse my ignorance GMEB?
that brush thing looks good Emmie..I use my steamer for such jobs...

I think most are kind, especially if you met them in real life.
Learned a lot:
Technical and IT stuff, some words, some very liberal views that I don't meet in real life, what a lot of people take prescription drugs, the support you'd get if reported your illnesses, bereavements, problems (which I don't as a rule), how nasty people (mainly women) can be via the keyboard, how very witty (mainly men) can be and now and again some very funny jokes.
I have met a few and most of them I can rely on
As for the sainted GMEB thread its not the all inclusive that some make out it is!
I've learnt that I change my mind a lot.
