Is it true that Elvis' middle name was misspelt on his gravestone? If so, when was it corrected? What was the official reason given for the error and are there any theories attached to it?

The spelling of Aaron on Elvis' gravestone is in fact correct, and has remained intact since his burial. The confusion arises because Elvis' birth certificate is mi-spelled, or illegible, it reads 'Aron' which is why everyone believes the tombstone lettering is wrong. In fact, Elvis always spelled his name Aaron, as did his father - it was a fairly common name at the time of his birth. So, in fact the tombstone has the correct spelling, as Elvis would have wished, and as his father instructed, and the legendary 'mis-spelling' - leading to all sorts of theories about Elvis being nor really in the grave, hence the wrong name, arepart of the endless myth-generation of fame.
