What Talbot means is, why would Smollett say he was attacked by white people (not much joining of the dots required, here) when it’s looking likely they weren’t?

Why would two people who were his colleagues, go to the police with such a story?

If two independent police sources have ‘evidence’, I’d be inclined to say they had reason to make this known.

Chicago police have viewed cctv footage of his entire journey there and back. There is just a 60 second gap. It was supposedly during this gap he was attacked, beaten up, racially abused and a noose put around his neck. No other people were seen in the area. Oh and he still had his sandwich in his hand all the time... must have been one hell of a sandwich to keep such a hold on it. Chicago is overwhelmingly Democratic in voter preference and Trump supporters are more likely to be abused than the other way round. The two people he identified from cctv footage were not white but were in fact Nigerian brothers, one of whom worked with him on Empire. From what I read they have fully cooperated with police and have all but admitted it was a set up. Why would he make false allegations? Who knows but perhaps he wanted more publicity? Perhaps he was going to be written out of Empire and the network have said they weren’t going to to not get in hot water! Perhaps he just thought they were going to drop him? Perhaps he, like a lot of the liberal left Democrates hate Trump so much anything they do is fair game?
