Ripping A Cd - Very Slow .....

So I've been using WMP to rip some CD's on to my laptop running W10.

I've done quite a few so far (in excess of 50, possibly closer to 100) and all have ripped no problem.
However, I noticed the last one slowed down to a snail's pace and took ages ..... and now this one has really slowed down - it's literally going to take hours to rip the full CD.

I've tried clearing cache, cookies, temporary files, etc - rebooted laptop several times - all to no avail and I've lowered the output quality to the 2nd lowest setting (I'm ripping to MP3 format).
I've tried using a different programme (Express Rip) - no change.

So far this morning, in the last 30 mins ish, it's ripped 1 1/2 tracks .... only 12 1/2 left lol :(

Anyone any ideas what's going on??
Have I just come across an "awkward" CD, or is there something going on that I'm unaware of??

I'm no expert at all on this but I use Nero to cvopy CD's. I've never had a problem using WMP for ripping. Maybe the particular source you are copying has
built-in copyright protection?

Is the disc clean and free from scratches ?
Sounds like it may be difficult to read without error.

Always raise eyebrows when something points out that the encoder is lame.

Old_Geezer, good point..when i used to make copies, id buy 50 pack tub of discs and some were duds, maybe five or six out of the pack.
streaming killed off my cd copy days.. but no more swapping out discs.

Just to clarify, I'm ripping original CD's to my laptop - I'm not copying onto CD's or anything.

.... well .... it's eventually ripped the CD - but boy did it struggle. My missus kept an eye on it whilst I was at work and I think it took 5 - 6 hours to rip something like 12 tracks.

I'm now convinced that the CD is a copy, (although it's meant to be an original) as the CD sleeves are not very good quality, although the 2 CD's themselves look fine.

I think I've just answered my own question here folks, but thanks for the input anyway :)

At first i was very confused. I rip CDs all the while i've only come across this problem once and had no idea why.

Just for the record, the problem CD was, "The Best Air Guitar Album in the World III".
I also have volumes I and II and the sleeves on them are printed on both sides. On my volume III, the sleeves only have printing on one side, which is the giveaway in my eyes. If you weren't looking, you'd probably never notice, as the CD's themselves look okay and play okay - the only giveaway is when I compare the sleeves on Volumes I, II and III ...... and when I try and rip the CD lol :P
