My mother is 88, and not too good on computers. She does e mail and a bit of Googling but little more. She is easily flustered when she doesn't know what to do on the keyboard

She has asked me about doing her grocery shopping online (probably from Waitrose), as a physical shop is getting hard.

I have never done a supermarket on line shop.

Is there any chance she could cope, or is it hard to do?

It is not that hard to do. Could you talk her through the system, set up an account? I think most supermarkets you can somehow set up a list of the items she uses most often. Don’t think you can set up weekly or other time frame for automatic selection
I can only speak for the Asda website, I found it easy to use after the first shop.
The first was just getting used to the layout and faffing around, after that twas much easier.
If you buy the same things week in, week out it's even easier.

You can also add to your order, I think for up to 24 hours after you've placed it.
Maybe not 24, but it can be added to or taken away from.
Maybe a bit of a challenge initially. But there is nothing stopping someone else shopping for her on line if you have a list ?

Anne, you may have got it.

I live in another part of the country, but she could tell me what she wants and I will do the ordering.

I just think she will panic when she doesn't know what to do.

She was widowed and remarried, but his sight has deteriorated so he can't use a computer. I think they are finding lugging home a big shop difficult. They would probably still go to select fresh stuff and browse for a few items.
Do it for her. My son is at uni and does his shopping from my Tesco account
Ummm - you've got a very lucky son!

Perhaps I'll do the first one with her on a visit, and take it from there.
Yeah Ummmm where can I sign up to your account... your loving friend Arky Xx
Not really diddly, I don't give him cash just food, it's been great though as he's learnt how to cook. Proper cook.
Hopkirk, it’s a great service , I’m sure your mum will appreciate it . :*)
Hopkirk, in case you don't know, each supermarket has a minimum order and Waitrose is £60 but it's free, no delivery charge. Asda is about £30 I believe but charge different prices for delivery times. Tesco and Sainsburys also have minimum order requirements and both charge for delivery.
If your Mum is going to mostly use sainsburys, their delivery pass seems to be the cheapest.
I use Asda, it’s £5 for a month long delivery pass (and you can have any slot you want and as many deliveries as you like). Minimum spend is £40 but £25 if you pay for each individual slot. You can change your order up to midnight the night before delivery. You can save your order as a shopping list and just alter it a bit if you buy similar stuff each time. Would your mum be comfortable with a stranger carrying her shopping into her house?
