I have been 'suggesting' to Mr T that he needed a haircut. I call it suggesting, he calls it something else. :-)

Anyway, he was in town today and decided to try the new turkish barbers that's only been open for a couple of months.

He came home with a lovely haircut and feeling like a million dollars after the hot towels, massage and flame thrower treatment. He really enjoyed it. Next time, I might also 'suggest' that he treats himself to a wet shave/cut throat razor experience, as well as a haircut. In fact, I might buy him a voucher for his upcoming birthday.

Any men on here go to a turkish barbers?

I never understood the fire

Yep. But only in Turkey.
Mr T does. First went to one in turkey 30+ years ago and now goes to a local one.

Did Mr T get the lovely lemon cologne too?
Do all Turkish barbers yank their customers head round like in that video? My barber walks round to the other side leaving his customers sitting comfortably.
They are supposedly very good but I am afraid the thought of sitting in a chair with someone from the Middle East taking a razor to my throat to be slightly alarming.
Yeah, you have to be a real man to go to a Turkish barbers.
Nice one Jackdaw. Your ignorance knows no bounds does it.

Set of electric clippers and it's No 3 all over for me.

Polite as well obviously, having just had both ears singed he politely thanks the man. :o)

Is that what the smell is, Toorak? I thought it was the Choisya outside the window. :-)

I remember from years ago when you could get a singe for 6d extra. The barber would light a wax taper and singe round the back of the neck. Never understood the benefit.

So, so far, it's only Mr Toorak and Mr Tilly who dare to venture into the turkish barbers.

I know that Mr T had a great experience and I doubt that I will have to 'suggest' that he needs to get a haircut, ever again.

No idea about the singe thing, Jackdaw, we women don't have to endure that.
I generally use a (cheap) traditional British barber's shop a few miles from here but if I'm visiting a nearby town when I want a haircut, then I'll use on of the many Turkish barbers around here. I admit to being a little apprehensive when I encountered the 'flame thrower' for the first time but I now regard it as just part of the 'luxury experience'.
I learnt to wet shave at 16years. Still wet shave( out of Xmas season) in my south side of 70. In fact I purchased a new Parker butterfly today on e-bay. Hell will freeze over before a stranger shaves me.

Thanks for the explanation, Mamya.
