brick built shed conversion

We have an ex council house with, three single brick 'out buildings' we currently use one as a laundry, one still as a toilet(summer time only!!) and another as a shed( tools lawnmower etc...). There all in a row and have a tarred concrete flat foof. There about 6'6 wide and the total length is around 30' and are seperated from the house by a 6' covered alcove. is it possible to enclose the alcove and knock through the dividing walls? then using it as an extension of the house, down stairs showeroom and laundry room. Or would the single brick construction, and concrete roof prevent me from acheiving this within building regs?

With any improvements/conversions or extensions you will need to get approval from planners and building control anyway. Your best bet would be to contact your local council's planning department or building control and seek advice there. Alternatively you could seek the help of a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) from your Yellow Pages who may be able to give you advice and any implications before you start getting drawings etc.

thanks octavius, it was pretty much what I was planning to do but I guess needed that reassuring nudge in the right direction thanks.
