Today, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, has been declared International Nurses Day, and tributes are in order for the angels on the front line of the battle against the pandemic.
God bless them all.
Sadly, it is quite obvious that they have not had the support they deserve in their heroic work.
I hope the government recognise their value with more than mere words but give them a fighting chance to give us a fighting chance of getting through this, and also reward them materially now.
Do you agree?

I wish some people would just stick to the OP instead of this incessant off topic arguing. I'm sure most people just skip through these juvenile spats

Pass the sick bucket.
Question Author
So you don't agree then.
Why not just say so?
What do you think Nurses would make of your sick bucket remark?
Oh maybe it was an attempt to be funny?
Fail !
I know why you posted that dross. But you never know, you might fool some people on here.
Question Author
Why do you think I posted what you call dross?
I have two nurses and two carers in my family, I was made aware of IND from a radio 4 broadcast, and I am aware of the crisis in our health service.
So, why?
perhaps when the time comes one can recognise the good work the nurses do, with a pay rise, that would cheer them up no end.
I agree with you emmie. The medical services are the front line in this fight. They are all laying their lives on the line for the good of all of us.
They would say they are just doing their job!
Isn't getting rewarded materially something known as a wage?
they aren't exactly overpaid, especially carers.. extra money can be found i'm sure...
royfromaus, they are not that well payed.
Have you got some figures?
just under 25k for average Nurse pay, which isn't a fortune.
Question Author
Cheers Emmie. No not a fortune.
of course that is the average and it will go up with seniority.
//reward them materially now. //

No, I don't agree. Apart from anything else, right now we are dealing with an unprecedented situation, not to mention paying to support millions who can't work. Where do you suggest all the money you want spent is going to come from, Theland?
Question Author
Pay them a fair rate for what they do.
emmie, if that's an average then some will be getting less too.
We know it won't be coming out of his wages, Naomi. We know that for sure.
Theland, I'll ask again. Where is all the money you want spent going to come from?
They get a heck of a lot more than the shop workers.
