Some weeks ago someone asked about a non slip bath mat and someone recommended a white”hairy” one. I ordered one that has just arrived. It is brilliant, very comfortable and safe. Thank you whoever recommended it. I can now enjoy my bath time book and vino again

it was me Cal - I told Ladybirder to get it one - I wonder does she like it too. Yes you can grip your wee tootsies firmly on it when you are having a shower. You didn't think of the grab handles too. You don't need to drill them in as they are powerfully suctioned. x
Calmck I was about to start a thread on exactly the same subject, thank you.
Yes jj, mine arrived and it is brilliant. Sticks like glue and doesn't move an inch and is not uncomfortable on the feet at all. The only downside was it didn't half pong but thankfully for a few days only. I got it in royal blue which is very cheery looking. I am still perusing grab handles, as I want chrome but haven't found the right one yet. Thank you for the recommendations.

Mine is rinsed and “deponging” in the sun now!
what was the recommendation? My bath mat has lots of little suction cups but it still seems to ride up a bit sometimes even though I am standing on it and I weigh more than three London buses.
thanks for that, ladybirder!
hi all - glad you liked them, I myself never noticed the pong which was probably the smell of the plastic but probably went away after I had a few showers.

for what it's worth LB - I don't think you would be able to get chrome grab handles because they are suctioned and my belief would be that the chrome would be too heavy and so would "weight" them on the wall. The plastic ones are much lighter and can I remind you that every now and again because of steam/condensation - they need to be "re-suctioned" but sure that's no bother. I find mine very secure.
You're welcome jno.
jj thanks for the advice. I hear what you're saying and perhaps I will give up on the chrome handle for the time being until I get around to having my bath replaced with a shower.
ladybirder, if you Google chrome suction grab rail, there are some out there, starting at under £20.
well LB there's your answer from Parsley.
Thanks Parsley found one at last. Putting "suction" into the search did not stop Screwflix, Victoria Plumb and others appearing on the list in spite of them not having any - only ones with screws. The one I like tells you when it's gripping firmly as an indicator turns from red to green and you can keep your eye on that to make sure all's well. So cheers Parsley and jj. xx
This thread is an example of AB at its most helpful :-)
Yes Toorak you're right, it is.
Now I need to ask another question. I take it you attach the rail grabber to a dry wall. Is that correct?
hi LB - needs to be tiled methinks - ie don't think it would suction onto a painted wall - however let me try for you now.
ok - too it off the bathroom tiles and tried on the painted walls downstairs and wouldn't stick - it is now back on the tiled wall again.

somebody else could come up with another idea x
Am I right in thinking you require a grab rail .. to help you get up onto to your feet ?
alavav - if a person needs a grab handle/rail to totally stand up - they would need the grab handle to be screwed in for safety
I know I spent 20 years supplying them and fitting them for Charities and Social Services.
Whatever you do do not get a chrome or stainless steel rail, because once your hands are wet and possibly soapy. You could end up falling backwards into the bath. Worse still dont even dream of a suction type rail.
SS asked me to go and see what I could do after someone had an accident. After having seen a ladies injuries who had fallen because of a grab rail pulling free. From that day onward I refused to fit any other style of bath grab rail other than this one ..

If I said I'd fitted hundreds of these I would be lying .. it's a lot more than that. You could tie your horse onto one of these when they are properly fitted !
looks good Alavav - but I don't sorta weight bear my suction handles so they have done me for about 4 years now - have replaced them tho.
JJ sorry, no it's to go on a tiled wall. I just wanted confirmation the tiles must be dry when I attach it please.
No alava, I need to to steady myself when I am in the shower (which is in the bath that I don't use).
