Deodorant Has Stopped Working!!
21 Answers
Can anyone help ,my deodorant for some reason or another has stopped working ,and by lunchtime can begin to smell my sweat . Iam meticulous about my hygiene and have tried various types of anti-perspiration,and after a day or two back to square one . I’m always shaving my armpits and make sure they are dry when applying the lotion on

I stopped using antiperspira nts a few years ago because I didn`t like the aluminium salts that are in them. I use L'Occitane stick deordorants instead and I can honestly say that I have never noticed any difference, even after working 15 hour shifts.

Odour is produced by bacteria digesting dead skin, oils, matter within sweat, etc., warmth and moisture promotes this activity. A very effective way to stop the odour is to kill the microbes with ordinary vinegar (wine or apple, not barley which adds its own particular odour). After washing, wipe some vinegar onto the skin where odour emerges, and wetting areas of clothing before washing at lower temperatures can also do away with the odour there although simply washing at 60 degrees works perhaps even better. The smell of (wine and apple) vinegar vanishes very quickly. The treatment is less and less necessary over time. Incidentally, vinegar is also very effective against foot odour and even helpful against dandruff and athlete's foot.

daisy - Fresh perspiration does not smell.
The odour from perspiration comes from the bacteria in the skin breaking down deposits over a period of time.
I would suggest that the most likely issue is your clothing retaining perspiration which is then decaying and may lead to some attendant odour.
Try upping the temperature for your washing and make sure your clothing is bone dry before you put it away.
