Why are the birds in my garden eating the fat balls, sunflower seeds etc but totally ignoring the peanuts?
There's quite a variety that come to the garden to feed but in spite of replacing the peanuts frequently to maintain freshness no bird touches them.
APG I agree with you but constantly read this sort of thing in wildlife magazines.
" Peanuts are one of the most popular foods to feed wild birds. They are packed with protein and fat and will attract tits, finches, jays, nuthatches and woodpeckers to your garden." I'm beginning to think my birds don't read the same magazines.
danny thank you, no the peanuts aren't soft, perhaps this is the answer although I have been buying from a reputable pet shop. Will investigate further.
I find the only things my birds aren't eating at the moment are the half grapes I cut up for them and place amongst all the other food I put out. Dried mealworms are still favourite. The nuts in the feeder barely last a day sometimes!
