I'd do it if it comes back, no problem
Not for me. standing in a field and clapping seems a little pointless.

Didn’t do it last time and won’t be doing it this time.
It wasn't popular in my street last time, so doubt I'll bother. I agree with it though.

will see if anyone else does it, some did the last time, banged pots and pans and the like
Not for me I'm afraid.
My street turned out en masse the last time
some people in the blocks turned out, i forgot all about it then heard this racket, and then joined in eventually
Loads in our street turned out last time. I'm sure they will again especially as they are more likely to know someone who has contracted it.
I guess I'll wait and see what the street does
I was out walking Jill one evening and a firework went off and people came out and started clapping in the street we were walking along, so I joined in and there was a lovely carmarderie. That was when we used to clap last year.
Not a huge number bothered here.
When they did this in the Spring all it did round my way was to encourage groups of people out on the street. They would dutifully stand and applaud on their doorsteps. When that sixty seconds or so was over they would leave their curtilages and assemble on the pavement in groups of half a dozen or more to discuss he day's events.
Curtilage: what a lovely mediaeval word.
Standing out at 8PM in the warm and light last year, chatting with neighbours at a distance, isn't quite the same as standing out at 8PM in January. Standing in the dark and rain banging a saucepan lid with a wooden spoon will be ... interesting.
Thought you'd like it, Jd :-)
It didn't take off round here apart from fools with fireworks
There were some here last time. Not really sure what benefit it has, so I probably won't, but I appreciate them just as much... just don't want to upset the dogs.
Shake your fist at the moon while your at it.
