These are personal nuisance calls like not scammers per se.

And I have asked about them before - I just wonder can these personal nuisance callers who also have your mobile number be blocked too.

Thanks

Do you want to block one number that calls you or are you looking for an app that blocks nuisance calls on your mobile phone?
What make and model mobile phone do you have?
Question Author
it's not for me Barry - I don't have mobile phone - my sister is receiving quite a number of nuisance calls and they are really upsetting her. The person in question has also got her mobile number. Apps etc can't be involved cos we are not techie savvy at all. Just a wee basic 02 pay as you go mobile phone. And ordinary landline.

Yes only number to block (and also sister is sorta worried about this person being upset) but I have told her she has to do something.
Question Author
^^^one number^^
I'd be recording the calls and then telling the person she is going to the police unless they stop.
Can they not contact the service provider to add blocking service for both phones?
Question Author
ach Woof - definitely couldn't go to the police (like long story) sad actually.
Question Author
this is what I was asking can they be blocked for the mobile phone too. Anyway I have contacted BT which I think could be linked to 02. and have got a number for her to ring for advice. will see what happens
Question Author
Can anybody tell me anything at all, that if the nuisance caller is successfully blocked, like what exactly happens. What does the nuisance caller "hear" or get ie a dead tone etc. She is absolutely dreading having to do this but it is going on some years now.
She should contact O2 and find out. Whenever I get cold calls my mobile recognises and indicates if it's spam. I then block them.
Does she know the person or is it just some random caller?
jj the other thing your sister could do is just leave the call connected and put the phone on the floor or next to tv the caller will soon get bored and hang up and try someone else.
Question Author
oh God - Tony you have no idea - she was telling me that she was on her mobile earlier on and this caller kept ringing landline, sister knows by the number of calls perhaps 20-30 rings - it was her. When she finally picked up - caller said - why didn't you pick up cos I know you were on the mobile phone (or something like that)
Question Author
tiggs - she knows her and her family as well and is afraid of the family contacting her re this matter.

I'm just going to tell her to ring the Advice People. Thanks for your advice anyway guys.

Go to the police - if she is getting on in her years, they will be concerned or at least point her in the right direction to blocking the number(s).
as it is menacing behaviour.....
jj was just a suggestion. Something strange is happening if caller knows she is on mobile. Is mobile from the same service provider as her landline?
Do they know where she lives? Blocking should be fairly straightforward but I'd be concerned if they know her address.
On the mobile phone after ending the call, try going into call records, highlight the number and she should get a list of options, choose block number and confirm. Works on mine.
Go to your 'contacts' list on the phone
click the name of the person you want to block
when the details come up on the phone screen of the name and number scroll down to 'block this caller'
done

or

go to 'recent calls' and find the number you want
to block
click the ! at the right-hand side of the number
scroll down to 'block this caller'
done

Depending on your provider 02 in your case, the person blocked will be either immediately cut off, or they will hear a phone ringing, but you won't. They will NOT get any message to say they are blocked.

I call your mobile -its busy. Later I call your landline and say you were on your mobile earlier -whats 'strange ' about that?
