Hand Mixer With A Low Speed

Can anyone recommend a hand mixer with a very low start speed. I recently bought a nice little Russell Hobbs mixer with 6 speeds! I thought I couldn't go wrong. But the lowest speed is so fast the food flies out of the bowl and lands up on the walls. There's no way to tell what the speeds are from the descriptions on line. I would be very glad of a recommendation.
