Every Christmas Eve a Polish dad in the village dressed up as Santa and brought a sack of presents to his children.
The children have now started to question why daddy's not in the house when Santa arrives so yesterday dad phoned Dave to ask if he would come to the house as Santa to bring the presents...Dave's our village Santa....and deliver the gifts, if he paid him. Of course he would...but no payment needed at all!
I hid as Dave knocked on the door with his sack of gifts. The joy of the children when the door was opened was tear jerking! Even visiting Polish granny burst into tears.
It was the start of the best Christmas Eve we've had despite the daft pub closing times in Ireland....and Polish dad has gifted us a huge pack of his Polish meats.
Have a lovely day tomorrow everyone....Gx

Dave missed his true vocation in life - he seems to make a great Santa. He suits his 'uniform'.

Have a disaster-free day.
When's the next ferry... I love Wiegelia..... I took over the cooking when my ex 's mum got too old. 12 blooming courses all with vodka... By the end... Carnage
That's magical Gness and moments like that really lift your heart x

Happy Christmas.

Someone posted a News link earlier and this old video was on it - I know it's an advert but I sense the children's reactions are real.

Wigilia is much more fun.
Happy children, happy adults :o)

That's lovely, Mamya. Especially the names bit. Dad sent Dave the names of the children...in Polish! Dave worked them out and practised them for an age.

Tony. I'll need a shave with all the fake beardy stuff floating around our house this week. :-(
Yes I can imagine, gness.
Question Author
By the way, Tony. The pubs did close at 8pm as instructed and there were no lock-ins.
Wow, a sad time for Ireland at this time of the year gness.
Question Author
It is indeed, Tony...and no way of getting around it. :-(
