120 cats..."I'd never leave my cats". Hopefully it can be viewed.
I often think of the 70s as the peak of 20th c English eccentricity. Lots of pleasantly batty folks doing their thing.

That could well be me ! But with dogs as well.

I always said if I
came into a fortune I would run an an animal sanctuary in the countryside. My idea of heaven.

The late 60s and 70s were the best days of my life.
I love batty people. That's why we get on Pasta!

I'll take that as a compliment!
I always figured I'd be a crazy cat lady. I only have one...I'd have more if I could...and I'm definitely batty!
If I was ever to win a mega-jackpot on the lottery, I'd have a big house that had at least as many domestic cats as that in it. In the grounds of that house though I'd have a rescue centre for big cats, such as lions and tigers. Life would then be perfect ;-)
ugh!!! i bet it really pongs in her house
I'm like this by nature ;-)

They must get through a fair quota of lovely songbirds (so much for every animal having a right to live - stupid old bat).
The most cats we ever had was 5 and then a Mum and kitten turned up in our garden and made it 7. When my son left home the last two went to live with him. We always had two dogs. Now we have one dog and three cats.

Yes ' batty' was a complement!
You're batty too Chris. Batty is good x

I agree with Mally. That house must stink.
It's generally only intact male cats that spray and stink a house out, Mally and Naomi. Females cats, and neutered males, are very unlikely to spray.
120 cats in a house must smell - whatever they do, Chris.
Most I managed at one-time was seven, my life wouldn't work with a cat now, but I miss having a few around.
>>> 120 cats in a house must smell - whatever they do

All they'll smell of is cats, rather than cat pee though. As my three could tell you, I love burying my nose in their fur when they snuggle alongside me on my bed. It's possibly my second favourite smell in the world, only beaten by my favourite smell of all which is that of a wet dog. (Please don't let my cats know that though!)
Dogs smell much more than cats. None of our our cats have smelled
I expect that they would if there were that many. But that many humans on a house would smell as well. I could live with lots of animals but very few humans!!

How many have you got Chris?

The dog sleeps with us and do does the feral cat who decided to live with us. The two other cats sometimes join in. It can get a bit crowded!
I've currently got 3 cats, Lottie. It was 5 of them originally (my lovely calico cat, Patches, and her four grown-up offspring) but mummy cat got fed up of living with four other cats and moved out. Then my poor, beloved ginger cat, Biscuit, was killed by a car in November 2020 :(

The three of them can still drive me up the wall though!

;-)
I've only got a 'small single' bed (2'6" wide, instead of 3'). Two of my trio, Moonbeam and Chequers, usually join me at night. I quite often manage to sleep in well under half the width of my bed, due to the cats having taken up most of the width. Even then, my sleep is never undisturbed, as Tablo will periodically want to join me under the covers, while Chequers (all 8 kilos of him!) will lie on top of me for a while! Apart from when I've been in hospital, I've never had more than two hours of continuous sleep in the past 8 years!

The most cats I've ever had was when first Mr pasta and I moved into a Brooklyn row house. Next door was unoccupied...except for the garden which was home to a tiny cat and her kittens. They were just short of becoming feral. There was a solid grey, grey with white chest and boots, black and white, black, and finally tortie and white...plus white and black mama. Otherwise, I've never had more than 2 at a time.
Modern, clumping cat litters cut down on odour a LOT...big difference.
Back when that lady was filmed, cats weren't often neutered or spayed either...I wonder how many kittens she had?
I'd have a houseful of dogs but not cats.
