Liz Truss is coming under criticism - and also drawing support - for her statement last night that she would not commit to appointing an independent ethics adviser.
She said: "For me, it's about understanding the difference between right and wrong.
"I have always acted with integrity... I don't think you can outsource ethics."
However, Gavin Barwell, the Downing Street chief of staff under Theresa May, said such a move would be unwise.
He said: "She will discover that when you have to sack one of your ministers - possibly a close friend - it is actually helpful to a prime minister to have an independent figure confirm that they have broken the ministerial code, rather than that having to be your judgement alone."
Does knowing the difference include adultery?
Or watching on and being complicit and supportive of a PM who was lying to colleagues, Parliament and public alike?
At least her future cabinet know that shagging about won’t cost them their job

I agreed with what he was saying about Johnson and his government was correct but that was as far as it went.

The main issue for Naomi and Zacs-Master is that they can’t bear to hear a former Tory PM ripping another apart.
But as I said to you the other day Naomi, when it comes to Tory ministers and their ‘misdeeds’ with other adults you refer to it as their ‘sex lives’.
Most right minded people refer to it as infidelity, adultery and breaking marriage vows.

As for sleaze among other parties:
Claudia Webbe (former Labour MP for Leicester East) - given a suspended prison sentence for apparently threatening to throw acid in an alleged love rival's face plus other aggressive behaviour.
Keith Vaz, who was forced to resign after allegedly offering to buy male prostitutes cocaine.
Fiona Onasanya (Labour MP for Peterborough) until found guilty of lying to the police to avoid a speeding prosecution.
Jared O'Mara Labour Party candidate / Independant - left the party in October 2017 after allegations of sexual harassment and bigotry. I understand he was also accused of submitting false expense claims worth £28,700.
Rosie Duffield (Labour whip) resigned after admitting breaking lockdown rules to meet up with her partner.
And lastly (but not necessarily finally) Jeremy Corbyn was photographed breaking the government's coronavirus "rule of six".

I mean we don’t want to go as far back as Cecil Parkinson etc, let’s keep it topical. We won’t even go to Rob Roberts in 2020.
Furthermore, it seems that one or two you mentioned resigned immediately, as they ought to, especially for lying, breaking the law or ministerial code.
Why did the PM decide that such ethics or expectations did not even vaguely apply to himself over Partygate, lying to parliament or lying about Pincher and that his party had to forcibly remove him?
