At first I thought it was a scary joke, but apparently it's a common practice in zoos as cheetahs are quite shy animals.

they're very fast so they can bring down prey easily, but they have weak jaws, so generally all they get to eat is a few mouthfuls of rump steak before the likes of hyenas chase them off.

They'fe an endangered species, as they've been through a couple of genetic bottlenecks. So hey're closely related: if one dies of disease, lots can die.
