My SiL, has been poorly for 3 weeks with terrible cold and cough. Aftwe first week, he was given anti biotics., short course. Beginning of last week, given some more. Had to fight to speak to a Doctor! Then had to do some sort of questionare over phone to see if he qualified for a chat with doctor..
Anyway he did, and took now A/Bs. Still not cleared,so seen doctor late this afternoon, and is a little worried, gave him steroids and will need to phone up for an x-ray at local hospital tomorrow. Also, his hands are yellow, which seemed to worry doctor. What could it be? Sqad please?

Am not a doctor, but how are the whites of his eyes?

Am sorry to hear he is poorly x

If it was jaundice, surly it would be all over. I think his eyes are ok. I'm wondering if it's lack of oxygen? Doctor said he was very crackly, when listening to his back. He think he got infection in lungs.
Thanks for your reply and good wishes, Albs x
The yellow hands will surely bre due to an adverse reaction to the antibiotics.....no big deal.

His respiratory infection seems to be viral and hence wouldn't respond to the antibiotics.
It would seem from what you say he has had and ia still suffering from viral asthma and steroids are the standard treatment.
Providing there is no deterioration in the next 24 hours and the chest X-Ray doesn't show pneumonia, then he should be fine by the weekend.

Thank you Sqad.
His partner, my daughter is so worried about him. His heartbeat was extremely fast, I suppose firing off infection. He had about 5 vials of blood taken too. Hope to have better news after x-ray.
Keep us informed.

Hi sqad, son in law had x-ray results. No lumps or shadows on his lungs. While discussing it on phone, doctor could hear him still coughing. He asked him to go see him earlier and will do a peak flow test & saliva test and send it off to look for any bacteria. It's been a long job.
Thanks for the feedback.
Nothing sinister is hanging around.
