I put a review on tripadvisor about a local restaurant, it was a comment that said it was OK but could have been better. That was the jist of it. It has disappeared. Can the restaurant have these reviews cancelled ? I put a photo on of the meal, which to be honest didn't look too appertaining.

In my experience its really difficult to get reviews removed by the venue. Is the review still in your Tripadviser history?

It shows there are two options. An owner can contact the reviewer and attempt to resolve the issue.

Alternatively they can flag the report as fake and Tripadvisor will look into it and might remove it as a result.

If you're not happy about it, I suggest you contact Tripadvisor and see if they will discuss it with you.

Remember too that the status of TripAdvisor reviews can be 'pending' for up to 2 weeks after posting, depending upon how many moderators they've got available to check all of the incoming reviews.

did you actually see the review on Trip Advisor? If not, as Buenchico says, it might still be waiting.
