I'm an old man, tired, without the mobility I used to have and I've sunk into a profound bout of depression.
What way can I go?

It helps to be able to get out a little if you can and meet real people, although I have a problem because I dont like going out it really stresses me. But I work up to it and then do feel better when I have gone.
Little steps. But perhaps a quite word with your GP, that helps some but you do have to watch they dont just shove medication down your throat. I refused, it is not the answer.

Sandy, I'm in the same situation. First step is your GP and there is help available. Its not an easy ride but im beginning to see the light ar the end of the tunnel. Forget what you used to be able to do. Think of what you still can do and try to do something every day that you like to do. Enjoy your memories. You can now make some new ones, meet new people in different environments and still learn new things. Ive been advised by a councellor to write a book because ive done a lot with my life and she loves my stories!

I once thought to combine the story of my life with my walks on Caminos. This is the first few thousand words.
I'm not in the mood now to continue with it.

Sandy - I've just seen this post. Atheist at 13.40 has said what I would say. Writing is a huge personal exploration and challenge. It doesn't have to be a long piece.
As you know, a lot of us can feel like you (some days my arthritis and lack of ability bring me near to tears). A writing group has helped give me focus and a weekly challenge. Also I've had to brush-up (re-jig completely and start again would be nearer the truth) my ancient piano skills to play organ for church services. There is always something if you can find it.
Write more for us on AB. Your pilgrimage writing was wonderful and we followed it eagerly as you took us on your journey.
Also see your G.P. - or 'evening primrose' can help. But there are good things around when you can see them. x

TTT,
I hope this lik will take you there. As I've said it's just 2000 words or so but it's a start.
