Michael Gove And The Government’s Ppe Vip Lane
On last Sunday’s Laura Kuenssberg TV programme, Gove refused to comment of the Medpro/Michelle Mone scandal; but he did say that all PPE procurement decisions were taken through a painstaking process by a team of civil servants and that the decisions were only taken after proper, coherent and fair procurement process.
However according to the Commons Public Accounts Committee, ‘The story of PPE purchasing is perhaps the most shameful episode in the UK government response to the pandemic’ said the committee chair (Dame Meg Hillier) in June 2022, adding ‘Government splurged huge amounts of money, paying obscenely inflated prices and payments to middlemen in a chaotic rush in which they chucked out even the most cursory due diligence’.

I’ve posted this under News, but perhaps given the amount of tax-payer money the Tories have given to their mates, it should be listed under Scams.
