I haven't listened to Alan Watts' videos for quite some time, but he always seemed to speak a lot of sense. But it is each individual's choice whether to accept what he says, or to reject it.

 

After all, who can independently and without bias judge what really is so ?

For much of his deliberations, I felt you were shooting yourself in the foot, Khandro, because he's saying exactly what a lot of atheists say.  However, I then came to this regarding Jesus who your man says was a human being who 'early in life had a colossal experience of what we call cosmic consciousness'.  Really?  How does he know that?  Or is he making it up?

OG, I knew he died some time ago, but I didn't realise (I just checked) he passed away half a century ago ! 

His talks and books seem to be timeless though. One of my favourite Desert Island books of his, - which I once gave a copy of, to each of my three children- is; The Watercourse Way,  in which he explains the meaning of the Tao, simpler and clearer than anyone else ever has, imo.

And I'll give you the rational answer.  He doesn't know because there is no evidence to support his claim.  He's making it up.

a.h. ^^ The highly respected Alan Watts died in 1973. He wrote many books and gave talks around the world to packed, attentive  audiences - he didn't have video camera, the above is a sound recording, and you shouldn't make silly assertions about things you know nothing about.
