In the 23 years since the attack, an additional 370 firefighters have died from illnesses caused by exposure to toxins on Ground Zero, members of the FDNY said on Monday.

Should spawn a few parties in Labour land. I bet Agent Cob is having a soiree, never seen the left so happy.

Who can remember where they were when they first learned of this attack? I was working for a DB conversion company in Windsor. We were in an ex nunnery converted to offices etc. Initially it was reported as a small private plane hitting the WTC - the same thing had happened a couple of years earlier, then it just unfolded.....

Terrible. I remember watching it while we ate our lunch in the kitchen. It was compulsive viewing. Almost like watching a film. There was a programme a few days ago about 3 people who got out alive. Very, very sad.

Yes I remember every sad minute. At work, lunch time we were all crowded around the tv in reception watching with horror. Shortly after our boss let us go home early & I was shocked to see police on the streets, heavily armed. I worked in the heart of the West End.

Just sat in my front room .😧

Went down to Ground Zero the following year. I had worked in NYC until 1984. It was a devastating site and amazing to see the little church still there

Following the September 11th attacks, it was a miracle that St. Paul’s hadn’t suffered any physical damage. Not even one window had been shattered. The building sat directly across the street from the World Trade Center yet survived unscathed. People started referring to it as “the little chapel that could.”

The church gave credit to a giant sycamore for saving it from damage. The tree stood in the corner of the property, taking the brunt of the debris. Only the church’s organ suffered serious damage, but it was quickly refurbished and put back to use.

I was at my mums at the time when my sister rang and told us to put the tv on. When we saw what was happening I rang my mate who said he was watching it in a shop window with others.

I dont think it has anything to say to us

Oto Peni Airport Hungary - I asked is this in real time or a video - and they said " Real Time"

and all the planes had to land - so many that they had to be moved ( by air) to make room. I said " they will put people in them. They cant  resist doing that to save lulu"  Then I pointed out that the luggage may go ta-ta, and there were AB  screams of " Oh I cant travel without my luggage!" Others asked 'how you know dat?'

Do you want to stay here ( Oto Peni Hungary) for a week and the answer was no.....

The event s  of London 2005  had much more to teach us. Starting with Br Transport Police locking themselves down in Tavistock Sq and refusing to come out.

down to abandoning the injured in the tunnels and no one cd be found to have given the order. The injured said well they all went as we screamed " dont leave us, we will die!"

The first report ( suppressed) began " went the day qutte well" ( Shades of Hungerford, same phrase) and David David commenting - "this report is so bad you are going to have to do the whole lot again" - Hence Lady Hallett s81 coroners inquest.

The secretary outside BMA Hse pretending to be a doctor. Ubfortunately the BMA rep who told her to take off her white coat was overheard by the Press.  Beareaved parents beseiged Leddy H asking if their offspring had died as a result of this.

The designated First Aid station: Matron  standing at the entrance of Gt Ormond St, insisting: we dont take adults here !

There was a lot more to learn from London 2005 .

I only read the BMA and Kings cross tunnels transcipts. Lawyers can talk at 250 000 words a day

I went to ground zero later and the guide had to tell the midwest teenages that they had to be silent and respectful

I went down to ground zero a couple of weeks after it happened.  It was still smouldering.  I remember folded up clothes in shop windows that looked like they were made of concrete where the dust had been forced through the closed doors of the shops.
