Oil Boiler

My oil heating boiler is not firing up. If I press the reset button it comes on maybe an hour then will not fire up again. Anyone any ideas as what could be wrong?

A faulty overheat safety thingy.

Ok I'm going to phone heating engineer tomorrow. Don't know what safety thingy is Douglas but you could be right.

Have you tried bleeding it?

No DDIL would not have a clue so leave well alone.

Sounds like our boiler when the solenoid went in the pump, although ours did not stay on for as long as an hour.

My experience of servicing oil fired boilers was about 40 years ago, and yes, they did have bleed valves for removing airlocks. My very strong advice is don't mess with it unless you are definitely sure you know what you are doing. Leave it to the experts Giggsie.

You also bleed oil boilers Jinny especially if you run out of oil.

its very simple to do and takes 5 minutes.
