I'm still getting used to mine but have found that the most useful thing(s) are the paper inserts for it. I've not used the silicone basket things at all and can't see why I would, or what they would be useful for.

I hope I've explained that properly, my question is, does anyone have those silicone whatsits, and if you do, what do you use them for?

They are designed to keep the air fryer clean and reduce washing up primarily but many have handles making it easier to remove the hot food.

My friend uses them for making bolognese, casseroles etc

Also when she's cooking large items like whole chicken

But they get hot too, so worth removing with a tool. Threading tongs through the handles is a useful way to do so.

I can't see how a casserole or bolognaise made in the air fryer would work to be honest, I wouldn't do a bolognaise in the ordinary oven, maybe a casserole, but the air fryer isn't big enough to do a large one, which is how I do those things, batch cooking with my gigantic oven pot. Or on the hob with my large lidded thingy.

I cooked a chicken in it using the paper insert and that was great, again I can't see the advantage of using a silicone one, the drawer would still need washing due to fat splatter.

The drawer is completely covered. Any splatter is on the silicon sides.
