Seat Belt Alarm Going Off Constantly

My Nissan micra is 19 years old but in good condition with low mileage.  A while ago the seat belt alarm went off intermittently but now it is constant.  My local garage has looked at it and sprayed the metal part and it was quiet for a couple of minutes on my journey home before going off again. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so, how do i fix it?

This may be helpful. It's a different Nissan model though:

Are you sure it is your seat?

We have a peugeot which objects to us placing 'things' on any of the rear seats. On the return home from a camping trip to Scotland I was fit to be tied by the relentless beeping caused by several kilos of tent, etc. setting off the sensors.

is it the seat you are sitting in?

have you plugged all the belts in the empty seats?

Anything with any weight on the empty seats?

I used to put my handbag on the passenger seat next to me but now put it on the floor in case that caused the problem.  Didn't help.  Then i shut all the other seat belts except the middle one on the back seat appears to be broken.  I shall have a look to see if I can locate that switch to the driver's seat belt.  I did ask the garage if it could be turned off permanently as I don't need reminding, I am fastidious about putting on the seat belt and I was told 'no'.  I shall report back

I just had a look and unfortunately you can't get to the side of the seat - the handbrake and surrounding area goes right up to the side of the seat.  May have to go to a Nissan garage for help.

Thanks for all the replies though.
