This cynical punishment of parents, some of whom will not be rich, has 100% been driven purely by ideology.

This government doesn't have an ounce of brain between them.

Heart actually bleeding here.

Mine too.

Private healthcare next?

They couldn't run a bath.

I'm quite sure that not every child at private school is an only child, adding even more stress and worry to a family.

^And a heavier burden on state schools.

Any plans to go after  religious organisations next?

Will keep my views and opinions to myself, have learnt that unless you agree with what  everyone says on answerbank you are simply not welcome.

16:19 so why are you even adding to this thread? Make a sensible contribution and you'll get sensible responses.

Well that's just not true. 😂

Send the kids to state school like the rest of us had to. Problem solved.

^That reminds me of a lady I knew whose mother stopped her from getting an office job when she left school.  'The factory is good is enough for me and your sister', she said, 'so it's good enough for you'.  That highly intelligent lady skivvied in menial jobs for a pittance all her life.  Clever!

yes mozz lets give them all a "comprehensive" education. Rich B'stards educating their saucepans privately, scandalous.

Mozz /Send the kids to state school like the rest of us had to. Problem solved./

Far from it, increased burden on the already over-streched schools - demands for more teachers, - more facilities,  ergo, increased burden on taxpayers.  Pathetic!

Treble the vat and squeeze every last Pound out of any one who can afford to send their saucepan lids to Eton.

^That's the nub of the matter- envy.

And all privately educated children go to Eton ... obviously.  😂

There was never a legitimate reason to let them off the tax; by doing do it was providing an effective subsidy for them.

Let the 'level playing field' change occur. Just have to hope that government has made provision for those whose parents decide they can't afford the luxury of private education without a subsidy, and opt to register their kids with local authority schools instead.

If parents can't afford to pay for private education for their children they'll work to ensure the schools they do attend are of a much highest standard.

It would be a happy day when no school was better than any other.
