TWICE in her i paper piece about education policy Alison Phillips writes "He who pays the piper plays the tune".

Are journalists nowadays so bloomin thick!

Calls for a stiff ear bashing 

That's poor.

And they should be able to spell correctly. 'He said his breaks failed and then he crashed'. Quote from local paper.

Of course the spell checker on the computer can't see anything wrong with that, and the papers are so short of money there are no sub-editors anymore.

All part of the general dumbing down in the mucky media.  

I'm a pauled.

It may well be that Ms Phillips submitted the correct copy to her newspaper but a sub-editor then changed it.  (As a qualified journalist myself, I've sometimes been appalled by what subs have done to my copy!)

Alternatively she may just not know stuff.
