I thought I had reached the point where I could no longer be surprised at the incompetence of the new British Government, & then I have just read this in my newly arrived copy of the Spectator.

Anyone interest in children's education, and mustn't we all be?

should take a look at this;

That fades out in the middle of the fourth paragraph.  What's the gist of it?

Behind the paywall.

If there are only so many brilliant teachers, and the rest are less that brilliant, won't all that happens when all areas are forced to treat everyone the same is a spreading out of the teaching ability level anyway ? Cannibalising from the better areas by the less well areas. You'd need all teachers to be brilliant in order for educational achievement to rise everywhere.

Starmer and his Government are truly malevolent and one must wonder if so too are his gobbiest advocates.

The politics of envy are truly ugly and destructive to society.

Here, here.

im surpr3ised to see you write that jourdain - for some reason i thought you hated Gove

The only malevolent ones I've come across are the ones that cant accept the loss of a GE, they have become the gobbiest and most destructive.

As we can see by the link Gove is gobbing and trying to be destructive. But gob if you like KS wont be doing Uturns for anyone or anything.

bednobs - I didn't see any reference to Gove (who I do dislike for his intransigence) when I sent an answer. The reference must have been in one of the removed ones.

This can and has in this case (if not in others) cause confusion.

nah, he wrote the article
