Not good, but you kind of expected it.  Try  to stop again but knowing this will keep happening if you take a backward step might help you get there this time.

Hope you are on your feet and home quickly. I don't often write on your site but I do follow your ups and downs. My good friend Graham was in the same boat as you, and struggled like you but got to a happy place finally. Keep on fighting!!!.

You know there's a saying in recovery circles that some need to hit rock bottom before they can start the climb out of addiction.

I've said here in AB that my rock bottom came when I fell down the stairs in my home and in the days after.  I think that was the shock I needed to start on the path to sobriety.

Your inflamed liver could be a blessing in disguise, though it may not seem like that just now.

If you continue drinking the next thing will be cirrhosis.  You know where that will lead.

If you really want to stop drinking you'd try anything.  I'm suggesting you give AA another try.  I know you've said it's not for you, but desperate times call for desperate remedies.

Hi Nails

Such good news (well - sort of)

Hope they sort you out, at last 😄

nailedit; It's good for you to have AB to turn to for a few sympathetic words. I've never had your problem with alcohol, I drink a fair amount but thankfully I've been able to stop now & then, - dry January etc.

The worst I've ever had in that direction of addiction was giving up smoking; a long time ago but I remember it well.

I had a friend who'd been a heavy smoker & given it up, he said, 'if it's very difficult, driving you nuts, & your tempted to light up, you can give me a call night or day to talk about it.' which I actually did a couple of times, which was of immense help.

So I guess AB is in a way for you, a bit like my friend was for me. Nice to think AB really does have a positive function now & then. 🙂

Bon courage & Godspeed !

Thank you all.

Am in a lot pain but now know its not trapped wind lol

//If you continue drinking the next thing will be cirrhosis. //

A friend of ours died that way  It's a seriously horrible way to go.  Please let this serve as a real warning, nailedit.

I hope the pain eases soon & you have my continued best wishes, nailedit.

Hi!  Suggested on 8 January that your pain could be liver connected  .. maybe I should appply for a job in A & E 😄  Joking apart, try to envisage your life without alcohol on a permanent basis - it's not only you who have demons to cope with ... family can be torn apart trying to help and find it a hopeless task.  Best wishes. x

Best wishes to you nailedit. I hope this might put you on a more lasting road to recovery and you can find a way to fight your demons that is not alcohol.

Only just seen this. At least you know what the pain is now! So, hopefully Nailedit, you will try very hard to do the right thing. Wishing you all the strength in the world. X

Thanks for replies

Got hepatitis.

Only just got moved to a ward. Very tired but it's very noisy.

Well at least you now have some answers and the next bit is up to you ....your poor liver is telling you something ....and we all know what that means, including you, so grab this chance and make it work for you. Are you still on Valium, that should help, will they keep you in for a while ?

Question Author

Yes, still on valium helped a lot. Have to say, once I've finally had a diagnosis A&E couldn't do enough and the staff on the ward I'm on now earn their wages.

Very glad to hear that, mate ...I know it took a long time and very frustrating as well, but if they're taking good care of you now, that's the most important thing.

Wishing you all the very best in the weeks to come and hoping you'll come out healthy and strong enough  to stay that way xx

So pleased you've got a diagnosis at last.  You're in the right place, Nailedit.  I wish you well very soon - and the strength to kick that nightmare demon that's ruining your life into touch once and for all. X

Question Author

Well im getting a fast track detox while I'm here instead of waiting 5 months again. 😁

Morning hun, I know we message outside of AB but just saw your post here and wanted to say again that I'm glad they've finally listened to you and are giving you the treatment that you need. Have they given you any idea how long they may be keeping you in for?? x
