I notice that people seem to ask advice about their cats/dogs for general health and training. I am surprised to find that some people really know very little. (im not knocking anybody,i am far from an expert) I found a really good book that answers most of the questions asked. I learnt a lot by it so i recommend for owners who need to know the basics.
"The doctors book of home remedies for cats & dogs"
It is by the editors of prevention magazine health books. (rodale books)

So many mistakes could be avoided and life would be much easier for both owner and pet. There is so much information available, yet a lot of people don't seem to want to know.
As a very occasional dog breeder, I would not sell a puppy to anyone who I didn't think had got the grasp of basic pet care and training. Yet there are so many places where you can get a pet without any sort of prior knowledge, which is such a shame, as often the pets are rehomed because the owner did not realise what they were taking on. The trouble is, somany people are out to make a fast buck, they really don't care about the future of the pet, just want to get their dosh and get rid of the pups/kittens, so they can breed the next litter.
