I can see your point LISAB, I have stuck with the sereies, and the rewards are showing through now. I think Steve Coogan is too canny a writer to blast everyone with killer material in Episode One, leaving the rest of the series as a limp fill-in. The first epsiode was to an extent scene-setting and filling in the gaps, and letting SAlan settle into his new lifestyle. It is a lot darker this time roudn, something I personally enjoy, so may I suggest you give the series another look, and if you still don't enjoy it, fair enough. It's a shame to feel let down by a much-anticipated artist, but that's the price we pay for enjoying art - it can't be that good all the time.
