Diabetic-hair loss

I am a lady and on a recent visit to the hairdressers it was noticed that I had suffered a bit of hair loss, my hairdresser said with me being a diabetic bad control can lead to hair loss, when i asked the diabetic clinic they were not going to confirm or deny this. Anyone know? By the way my control had not been as tight as normal but nothing to cause concern to myself or the diabetic clinic.

As a fellow diabetic I have never been made aware of this as a possible side effect and I always put mine down to the forces of nature and gravity! However. the side effects of diabetes are very varied and disparate, so it could be true!
