My cat is forever bringing mice in and it's now starting to get on my nerves especially as she bought two in last night! Sometimes when i find them they are already dead, some are half dead and i've even had a couple of alive mice! How do i stop her doing this? I know she thinks she is bringing me presents.....Any advice is much appreciated.

How old is your cat? ours used to do this! its awful once found a blackbird in our hall! she grew out of it cant remember how long it took, but may have corresponded to her being neutered! does she bring them in through the catflap? if not then keep an eye out for when she does it and get her to leave them outside distract her with a toy or catnip!

My cat used to leave a mouse outside our doorstep and one outside my neighbours when we got back off our hols to say thanks for looking after me, and dont leave me again i'm glad your back! kind of sweet really!

Awww my cat who sadly passed on two years ago used to do this, and leave them on my doorstep for me. Unfortunately I used to never notice them until I squished them with the pram wheels!

Now that is URGHHHHHH!!!!

She is six years old and she does bring them in through the catflap during the night as I find the mice in the morning! I don't particularly want to lock her in or out at night though....
I know what your saying eash but whats worse, leaving her in/out all night which cats really don't mind. or finding decapitated mammals in your house of a morning? i know which i'd prefer! seems to me your best solution as i dont think there are many in that case! thankfully we don't have a catflap anymore!
hi mine used to do this all the time she now has two bells on her collar! its worked

Just thought of another revolting incident.....

My cat brought home a headless mouse and promptly left in on the doorstep, the dog found it and tried to bury it in my bed :-(

Yes, ours brought a live one in to play with and lost it down the cushions of the sofa bed. when we pulled it out next it was rather chewed.

And then there was the time we notice a very confused cat in the porch, and only realised when Ruth put her wellies on was that he'd been wondering what had happened to that headless rabbit he was tossing around.

Ok dancecaller, you win, lol

I don't think you can stop her.
It's natural.

Dead mice are not the worst (unless you find them under your cover in the bed).
Live mice are not the worst.
The worst are the headless mice with their guts hanging out...

But it's part of the package!

I really would love to have a cat, but all this puts me off big time! I am scared stiff of mice (I know, big cissy) and i remember our cats doing this all the time when I was a kid, I was always finding mice in the bed, boots, under the doormat so that I stood on them. If I could have a cat that never brought meeeces in I would.
