I've seen quite a few poets in performance recently. The 'coolest' would probably have to be John Cooper Clarke and Attila the Stockbroker. Martin Newell is a genius and also pretty cool - and there's even a poetry boyband called Aisle 16! Try Googling them.

Sort of present day.......Jim Morrison was a pretty accomplished poet if you avoid all the traditional snobbery - and lets face it, he was pretty dam' cool too.

Edgar Allen Poe always captured my imagination,reckon his cool looks could have made it through to the present day lol

Benjamin Zephaniah is a must-have, sorry to repeat but, yeah, kids love him too as he isn't a traditional poet (He's actually dyslexic and prefers to tell his poetry to audiences)
