Do you know of any decent Mexican restaurants in London?

I've yet to find one that doesn't do bog-standard texmex slop. On my travels in the UK I've come across a couple of excellent ones. Plunkett's in York, and Viva Mexico in Edinburgh, both do really tasty, fresh, interesting stuff. The Edinburgh one's the only one I've seen where they make their own nachos - light, still warm, subtly flavoured - as opposed to shaking some out of a bag.
But I've yet to find anywhere even nearly as good in London, where this poor maligned cuisine comes with all the baggage of badly interpreted production-line low-expectation stodge. And where it seems to have become synonymous with "fun" i.e. loud and noisy. There must be somewhere within the M25!
Lalee's in Kingston was always good but I haven't been for years. Tell me if you know of anywhere, also if you know of other good ones around the UK. Thanks!

I've not been myself - but I look forward to trying it next time I'm in London!

Mestizo has got some really awful reviews on the London-Eating website. So why do I mention it? Because it's also got some fantastic reviews! (There seems to be no middle ground). Perhaps most importantly, all of the reviewers who state that they're Mexican seem to think that it's a real 'taste of home'. It sounds as if you might like it:

Thanks Bohne, just looked at the Cantina website. Looks very Tex Mex, and a lot more Tex than Mex, but I might try it.
Yes Buenchico, those are the very definition of mixed reviews, this is a feature of the london-eating.co.uk reviews that's interesting and frustrating in equal measure. I can't imagine that an establishment can genuinely veer so wildly between great food and service one night and then be terrible on both counts the next. It makes it hard to decide - spending time, effort and money on trying a place that turns out to be bad is dispiriting and annoying. Also, this one's out of my normal catchment area.
When I've got time I'll trawl through the Mexican listings on the london eating site.
