My son has been learning magic tricks and has me fooled with one where a pen is seemingly passed through a �5 note: I have a bet with him that I can fathom how this is done, and I haven't a clue, can anyone explain briefly what the trick is?

Have a good look at the pen!! A really good look.

That's my only hint. I have the same trick myself, and if it goes through with a kind of stabbing motion, I know exactly how it's done. You know the pen isn't really going through the �5 note. So maybe think about where the bottom half of the pen could be coming from.
