Letting kittens out
7 Answers
My kittens are 12wks old now and we've had them for4. I have been outside with them but they always head for the road and I'm scared .I want them to go outside now and they want to explore. Are they still to young or am I just being over-protective,should I just let them go and hope they'll come back?

The vet says its ok to let them out now but I'm nervous because they're so small. The last time I had kittens we had an enclosed garden with a six-foot fence, so by the time they could climb out they were mature enough.
Thx for your answers-you seem to think they're still too young, so maybe I'll keep them in . They just seem rather eager to get out,and are constantly on the window sills now looking out.

Bad Bad Bad present.....lol. The road is a worry, maybe let them go a little way, then entice them back with very tasty treats...... often. Btw I am in no way an expert, this is my first cat, so I am way over protective of my little girl....but 12 weeks still seems very young to let them go to far. How's the hunt for the perfect dog going....lol....you sound just like me...in for a penny...in for a pound! We have 4 dogs and now the kitten....never a dull momment here!!!! Did I mention the Parrot, the Degus and the snake?
Good luck.

O God! My daughter wants a snake but I've told her she can wait until she gets her own place!.
The dog is still being argued about, but we won't get that until after Xmas. Thanks for asking divegirl. You sound like you have your hands full. What the hell is a degas?
To return to the subject.one of my kittens is very active and curious (and fast) and that's what worries me. I cant' stop him easily from going towards the road-there are acres of fields in the other direction, so of course he wants to go the wrong way. The more I stop him the more he wants to go there!
Just like a kid really.
Anyway, thanks for advice.
