Been feeling run down in the past few weeks.am with my doc each week and trying to sort it out but to no avail yet.hes done bloods but each time shows up nothing.he has so far cancelled out the possibility of diabetes, hypoglycemia, thyroid problems, anemia, iron levels.its getting frustrating now and have started taing multivitamins and vitamin b12 to see if it will help.my doc has on my request taken bloods to check my b12 levels.i am trying everything.anyone able to help??basically whats happening is my energy crashes.i have good energy 75% of the time but then my energy will drain out of me.it happens very quickly.around my eyes feel sore and tired when this happens.even when i feel good i still have a spaced out feeling.i eat well, better than most people i know, dont smoke and havent touched a drink in 3 months.its affecting my college work so any help would be appriciated.even if it seems plain obvious.i want to check out every possibility.thank you very much

Hmmm, sounds to me like your totally fcuked. Personally, i think its amental issue. you say you feel fine , yet dazed out. Is there something troubling you mentally? If you take drugs, you may be suffering the after effects. On the other hand, it could be withdrawl symptoms of not drinking. I think you should wait to see what the doc has to say, but dont go reading any books on health. You will start imagining that you have all sorts of illnesses...

I am not wearing myself out and its not stress.everything else is fine.and its not tiredness its lack of energy.and it hits me very suddenly when it does

I dont think its a mental issue.i have debated in my mind weather it was or not and thought about it a lot but i personally dont think in any way it is.cause i have suffered from depression before and was afraid it was coming back but its different.and also it has hit me a few times in college and has been commented to me on how pale and unwell i look.i am certain there is something other than a psychological reason
Have you been tested for Glandular Fever or M.E?
These are the only other two energy sapping illnesses I can think of. You said you have suffered from depression previously are you sure its not raising its ugly head again? If you are feeling low then an illness is a great way of getting attention, this maybe a subconcious attempt to put yourself in the limelight.
I hope you find the reason and are able to treat it.
Ahhh, i knew there was something wrong psychologically. I understand that you may not think its a mental issue, but i bet when you go back to your doctors he will confirm that you need some sort of counselling. Whatever it was that you got depressed about before, may be rearing its ugly head again. i think you should find someone who you can have a real good chat to. If this is difficult, go get drunk first and let it all out. A lot of the things your saying you feel can be brought on by feeling down. If you think your ill, you can eventually become ill. You need some way of picking yourself back up and getting mentally strong again...
Maybe try getting a second opinion from a different GP? It won't do any harm.

Also, I know some people think it's a waste of money, but if you're worried why not think about having a full body MOT privately? Although it costs it might put your mind at rest - part of the problem could be that you're worrying about it and it's stressing you out.

It sounds as though it wouldn't do you too much harm to have a rest/holiday aswell. Hope you feel better soon!
Hello The Tree,

I answered a post on here earlier today. The person who I was referring to in the thread suffers from dementia (the other thread by the way has no connection with your query). Quite often in dementia the B12 levels can drop considerably (it has nothing to do with diet - it leeches from the body 'naturally'). B12 can help in memory loss apparently, but when the patient has this deficiency it can make them lack energy/pale/tired/no appetite. Injections are given every other day for a week or every other day for a fortnight depending on the severity of the B12 blood count. A booster is given 3 months later and blood will be checked to see if further jabs are required. The person who I have mentioned has recently had a course of two weeks treatment as his blood count was dramatically low due to his previous GP/Surgery not following up with checks after his initial ones 3 years ago. His (new) GP/Surgery have stressed that his constant tiredness, lack of energy and loss of appetite was all due to this deficiency.

Please do not for one minute think that this is what the problem must be for you, but many of your symptoms seem the same as this other gentleman. Take the advice of Peghead and get a second opinion from another GP, after all you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. This is exactly what the wife of said gentleman did and is so pleased that another doctor was there to advise otherwise.
