I've current got tonsilitus (get it around 2-3 times a year so i know that it diffinately is).

Im planning on going to the doctors tomorrow to get some medication BUT im meant to be at work in the morning.

Work has a policy that if you have a contagious infection/disease you will not be allowed to work due to the risk of infecting other people.

So, I was just wondering, is tonsilitus contagious?

Thanks!

Actually just found something on the net: http://www.mamashealth.com/tonsillitis.asp

now im confused!
I work in an Operating Theatre and there are several staff who have never had tonsillitis nor their tonsils removed. Many of them see a tonsillectomy(surgical removal) about 15 times per week and have never contracted it.

Can't you just tell your boss you've got D and V if you want the time off work?!
That seems like a lot of times to get it. I feel very sorry for you. I can't believed they haven't just lopped them out. i'm sure I only had it about twice when they took mine out.

I say just call in sick anyway, you must feel too poorly to go to work.
My boyfriend's just had this and was told by his doctor that it's contagious while you have the white-puss lumps but once those have gone, you're OK. Hope that helps?
