small turtle joke

Once upon a time in a forest of giant redwood trees, there lived a little turtle who had great aspirations about himself.
He slowly climbed the tallest tree in the forest and when he reached the very top he lept from the tree and franticly flapped his legs before he plummeted to the mighty merced river below.
Not to be deterred by this he again clambered up the stately giant and again he fell from the top, hitting almost every branch on the way down.
This continued for several times and was watched by a couple of very inquzative owls who had been purched on a high branch of a near-by tree, when one owl turned to the other and said, "You know what Elwood, I think it's time we told the kid he was adopted !
