my estranged partner is holding my childrens bank account books both of which are in the childrens names, they have to sign for their money themselves, one child is15 the other is 11, he is telling them that they cannot have the books to draw any money out! is this true? surely if they are the account holders he does not have the right to do this.

Hmmm if it is just their signiture that is required and not that of an adult, like my 2 children have (both Hubby and I must sign to be able to withdraw any money and it will remain this way until they are 18) then I would get in touch with the bank and explain what is happening. Surely this is similar to losing the books? Just ring or go into your local branch, get the old cancelled and new ones sorted.
Hope you manage to get it sorted or that someone else here who is more knowledgable than me can help you :o)

who took out the accounts this may help if you did my daughters account was set up by me. and i have to sign for her but i wont let her take it out its her savings for the future. id perhaps give them a small allowance and tell them to save for something they really want but id go to the bank and cancel the other books and get new ones to protect there interests.. hope that helps
