Football Image Copyright
Hi, I wish to use photographs of football grounds (scottish) for a product that I'd like to sell. Is this infringing on copyright either SPL, Scottich Football League, or the individual football clubs. I don't intend to use the club badges in the images but would like to mention ground capacity, attendance etc.
Thanks

If you're talking about the outside of the ground and you've taken the photos yourself or have permission to use them then it would be ok. That would be the same as any street scene.
I think it would depend on where you were getting the information for attendances etc from? If you're copying them from another source then you may have to acknowledge the source or ask permission. May be better to simply ring each club or send an email asking them for info.

In my Law lecture today we spoke about copyright. Sounds dumb and may not even be relavent but in a way, anything you create is your own copyright. I.e. no-one can pass the photographs you took off as their own work. Therefore anything you capture is seen as justified. Anything public is also accepted. It's like using someone's photograph off of the internet. As it's in a place accesible to the public, you should not have to worry about the photographs being copyrighted or protected.
Hope this makes sense to you.
Think of all the advertisments you must see in random photos (someone wearing an Adidas shirt at a football match)
