LA to Las Vegas - halfway house needed
6 Answers
Me and t'brother in law are driving to Vegas from LA next week to watch (not compete in, sadly) the 9-ball pool championship at the Riviera. Having left things to the last bloody minute as usual we've found that all the hotels/motels are fully booked for Friday and Saturday night so rather than sleep in the Mojave under a sheet of plastic I thought we'd stop somewhere en route. The last time I made this trip I was driving from San Diego and I seem to remember driving through a town which was like a 'mini-Vegas' - lots of motels, casinos and bright lights - can anyone who knows the area (or Answrbankers in the US) offer any insight into the name of this jewel in the desert as I seem to recall it was only 30-40 miles from the strip itself and it would be ideal? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that sft - don't think it was Spring Valley (no casino there from what I could find) but that sounded so familiar I Googled around and found Indian Springs and I think that might be the baby (maybe this place http://www.dirtymoe.com/Default.htm),
although that would mean I was on Highway 95. Your guess that I was on the I-15 certainly makes more sense than my being on the 95 so I guess I'll keep checking along that route and see if anything else rings a bell. Cheers anyway - and ta for the link - lasvegastourism is a handy site.
