Cheeky Shih Tzu
I was just wondering if any one else has a shih tzu that always has his/her tongue out. My little boy looks so cheeky at times with his tongue out. One lady even said that it does nothing ofr his inteligence. Any one who does have a Shih Tzu is terribly blessed to have such funny and full of character dogs.

I think they look rather cute especially if they have lovely long hair round their face with their tongue peeping through their 'beard'.
I am sure he is far more intelligent than the lady who said that.

Hi Lankeela You are certainly right! Shih Tzu's do look very cute with their tongues poking out. Turbo dosen't have any teeth missing (not that you can really see as they are so small, they are about the size of a grain of rice) He also has a beard too. After he has a drink he will just about always come over to me or my brother and wipe it on our socks or just our feet if we arne't wearing any. Another question for you. Turbo also seems to have wet streaks down un der his eyes. They sort of look like tears. I was wondering if you might know how to stop this or what causes it? Turbo says hello to you

The next time Turbo is taken to be groomed or to the vet get them to check that there are no hairs growing in towards the eyes. If there are none, you can get some stuff called Angel Eyes which stops any tear stains. If the eyes themselves are watering you can use Optrex (same as the human variety).
Kisses to Turbo, I sometimes handle a Shih Tzu for a friend at dog shows. One is called Tia, and there is also Dolly, Queenie and Lacey. I was there when Queenie was born as the owner had never bred a litter before. You would not have known they were Shih Tzus, they looked like tiny Jack Russells because they have short hair when born.
