Sperm Donation.
15 Answers
The recent change in law has evidently had a dramatic effect on sperm donors coming forward. What I understand of the new legislation, the only change is when the child reaches 18 he or she IF HE WISHES can have access to the sperm donors name. The address (even if still current) is not forwarded and given the fact these kids will be wanted (i.e through fertility treatment) and not the result of a cheap fumble in the back of a Renault Clio, will they really bother to try and make contact with the fathers??
Further, at 18 years old there is no financial commitment on the father (protected by law as well).
My questions.
1) Would the women here be hurt/annoyed/threatened if an 18 year old knocked on your door and said "Your husband is my father", if you knew it was the result of masturbation in a clinic?
2) Would any men here consider donating sperm
3) I think I would be a suitable donor. Tall dark, inteligent, healthy, single, not great looking, but passable. Where do I start my quest?

but with everyone travelling and moving around through life more and more nowadays it would be hard to minimise siblings meeting without knowing.
Perhaps using just one mans sperm per family wishing for IVF would be the better way? although its difficult to know how many men donate to this sort of thing

Hmmm..that is a difficult one isn't it redcrx?
Wardy, do you feel comfortable knowing that you will probably be a father to 10 children? this is now something all donors will have to face..and although I can see how important it is for people to know of their natural parentage it may open a huge can of worms for most.

I can truthfully say, it would not bother me. The children will be born in to wealthy middle class families wanting to have kids, giving them a stable home. I do not envisage that many of the children would want to know anyway later on in life. Quite a different pyschology to adoption I think.
Further, will the kids no? If the mother is married there is nothing stopping the husband (i.e "non"-father) having his name on the birth certifiacte.
Further, further, it is one step closer to my utopian dream of fathering a master race.
