Was watching this last night on TV - I always thought that the army was very shouty when they trained their new recruits - 'DO THIS SOLDIER' and 'DON'T CALL ME SIR, I WORK FOR A LIVING'.

Last night the Troop Commander and Corporal seemed to be quite relaxed and chummy with the recruits - is this normal for the Marines?

i cant answer your question but it was a good program tho wasnt it!!

i think they were being very calm because the cameras were on them?? perhaps john lambert is the man to answer this as he used to be in the army me thinks?? /)
i wouldnt know if it was normal or not, but I thought that the first few days certainly did seem more relaxed. I loved watching the guy trying to recall the 4 'ethos' of the commandos, he looked as if he was really enjoying it lol

Yeah, I thought it was a very good programme. Was suprised at the men that dropped out so early on though - surely they had an idea of what they were letting themselves in for??

exactly redcrx - that's the sort of situation when I would expect the troop commander to start getting shouty - and instead he just kept sending him back to learn them until he got them right - then told the camera that he was 'morale in a bottle'!!

Mind you, I think if that guy was my troop commander, I'd have to forget stuff a few times so I had an excuse to keep going back and seeing him, if you know what I mean - yum! :-0
you would of thought wouldnt ya!! lol
lol, me too sasha! hes not bad at all!
The shower scene was pretty good-my husband pointed out that he had shoes on, my response was "who's looking at his feet!?!
Yeah it is,
I spent 21 years in the Army and I can confirm that the marines are a bunch of girly p00fs
4GS not all of them, I know an ex-marine and he is an absolute honey and defo all male!!!!
4GS your full of it! The documentary about the Marines is showing an insight into the training they go through, you have to remember that they are not going to show the instructors beating them because this is also an advert for the Marines so they don't want to put possible recruits off!
Believe me it goes on, and they are brutal!
The Marines are renound for being the best troops in the world, they are the UK's rapid reaction force, who are also specialists in mountain warfare, They are trained to enter a combat zone by sea, land or air and have a record that speaks for itself! They are also the men whp protect this country so I think the Marines deserve some respect!
