I agree with you that organic produce should never be sold at the price it is, but you have to remember that the growers probably lose a lot. To be honest, I'd rather pay a higher price though, to get fresh vegetables which haven't been sprayed with poisons. As for the dirt on those carrots - well, it doesn't take long to scrub them clean. I'd be wanting to wash the other sort even MORE thoroughly, in case any gross residues were left on them - but since you're being charged by the weight, it might be a good idea to complain. Pay for the carrots yes, but not the soil that goes with them.
